GypsyKateStudios came into being in 1990 with a Yamaha 4-track analogue tape portable studio that I bought for about £100, and for a few years that was about it! From those humble beginnings I have developed to the more sophisticated studios that I now have.
An Acer laptop, used exclusively as my recording studio, houses a Pro Tools LE MBox 2 Factory studio set up, which is everything I want a studio to be for me. A Novation X25 Synthesizer feeds into a digital 8-track mixer with 256 inbuilt effects, and this feeds straight into the MBox interface. The Factory Bundle has an Aladdin’s Cave of Plug-ins including the Joe Meek Compressor and the Meequalizer, among a veritable cache of gems!
I have a Line 6 POD Version 2 for the best possible amp sounds around but, just to make doubly sure, I also have the following amps:-
125 watt Vox head valve amp through a Marshall Power Breaker,
Hughes & Kettner Attax 80,
Marshall Lead 30,
Fender Champion 600 valve amp,
Pig Nose 7 watt amp.
The studio is small and compact with a warm and intimate atmosphere. I also have a Roland digital 8-track VS 840GX Portable Studio so that I can take GypsyKateStudios on the road as a mobile unit and record live gigs too.
A Yamaha Big Jam drum machine is an added bonus, along with an array of beautiful guitars, a bass, an accordion, mandolin, ukulele and various percussion accessories.
With my Direct to Disc facility to my P.C. and my CD burning separate unit too, I have all I need to produce CDs of a professional quality.
